Book Lists With Target Speech Sounds

Reading with your child is a great way to model targeted speech sounds.  The more exposure to the correct production, the faster the child will learn and acquire that sound.  Many of the books listed under the "speech" tab provide repetitive language.  Parents can pause to allow the child to fill in the word that targets his/her sound giving them multiple opportunities to practice their sound.  Just click on the Speech Tab and scroll down to find the sound(s) your child is working on.  Then choose a book and enjoy reading with your child!

Helpful Resources

Be sure to check out our Resources tab for helpful articles, publications and Apps !! We have compiled a list for many concerns or questions you may have about your child and their Language development or Social Competence.

"Bee" on the lookout for our May, Patriotic Bee Bucks !!
The month will go quickly but our students know what the
"Expected Behavior" looks like at school and should be earning lots of Bee Bucks.

Our second grade Student Leaders are in the hallways in the afternoons giving out "blue tickets" for the "expected" behavior they see, (walking feet, quiet voices and safe hands). The "blue ticket" winners will be drawn at the end of the month so there are TWO chances for prizes that week for first and second graders.

Managing behavior

Managing behavior can very often present new challenges as your child gets older and their world gets bigger. The following article is clear and easy to understand when thinking about behavior. "The Successful Parent" is a great resource in general as you navigate the world of parenting.

Social Skills

In the Fall Mrs. Patty's and Mrs. Callanan's classes participated in the Second Step Social Skills Program.  They learned a lot with the help of two puppet friends, Puppy and Snail!! Currently, Mrs. Civic's, Mrs. Cash's and Mrs. Petrarca's classes are learning with Puppy and Snail.  So far the students have learned how to be "learners" and identify feelings. There are fun songs to go with the lessons so be on the lookout for a video of them performing the songs.
